View large image of the 2.5 Diameter Garden Ornament So Candy took a course in Master Gardening and received her certification in early 2007. She and her husband Scott have been transforming their landscape ever since.
Using the Florida-friendly landscaping principles, they have achieved a beautiful yard that invites humans and wildlife alike to "come and enjoy". Candy and Scott have several bird stations in various areas of their yard that consist of feeders, fountains and such in addition to plants that feed and attract them. They noticed that bright colors and/or mirror in some of the mosaic pieces seemed to contribute to attracting some birds. Prisms hanging inside windows definitely got the attention of hummingbirds! Experimenting, Candy designed some pieces... View large image of the strobe that can twirl and twinkle with breeze What kind of pieces? Jewelry beads by Lizette''s Great Beadginnings!
The occasional twinkle from the mirror would reflect on to the surrounding landscape in miniature form the same shape in which it was on the colorful beaded strand. Birds and people all seemed to enjoy this! Added to "upside-down" clay pots with large washers, they became prism-chimes... Continuing with her creative ideas, Candy uses everything from stained glass, mirror and beads, as well as crystals and painted tin ornaments, to make what she refers to as "jewelry for the home and yard." Most everything is weatherproof and suitable for the outdoors. Interestingly, Ed Storch of Gainesville, Florida based Florida Iron Design, has taken rod iron garden art to a new level with breathtaking designs in the form of trellises, flowers and birds that feature Candy's colorful globes and strobes. As always, we promise to offer you only the most unique, one of a kind garden art for your visual delight and enjoyment!
